Me, We
In the spring of 1975, Muhammad Ali was invited to give the commencement address at Harvard University. Toward the end of his speech, an audience member hollered out, “Give us a poem!” Ali's response was all of two words: “Me, We.”
The social constructs of race, ethnicity, gender, class, nationality, religion, political ideology and sexual orientation are merely labels that have become so intertwined and embedded in our minds that we fail to see the underlining truth. We are all the same.
